Distance Training Clinic

There will be days when you don’t know if you can go the distance; there will be a lifetime knowing you have.

The Omaha Running Club conducts a marathon/half marathon training clinic each year to prepare runners for a fall marathon or half marathon such as the
Omaha Marathon. The clinic typically begins in April and continues into mid-October. The first meeting is an organizational meeting explaining how the Clinic functions and the opportunity to ask questions, sign up, and determine if they are ready to train for a longer distance run.

The first organizational meeting for 2012 will be 6 PM Wednesday, April 11th at Peak Performance, 78th and Cass Streets in Omaha.

Clinic sessions will be held on Wednesdays at 6:00 PM and Sundays at 8:00 AM and will continue into October.  Most all sessions will meet at Peak Performance, 519 N 78th St., Omaha, NE. As the Clinic progresses the Sunday session times and locations will vary.

The Wednesday sessions, beginning at 6:00 PM, include a speaker who will discuss a marathon-related topic, followed by an optional group run. The speaker portion of each session lasts approximately an hour and is then followed by group run for those who have the time for an evening run. The Wednesday runs start about 7:00 PM with distances varying between 5 and 10 miles.

The Sunday session is a long run, currently beginning at 8:00 AM.
Distances will vary between 4 and 20 miles. As the Clinic progresses, Sunday session meeting times and locations will vary.

Cost of the Clinic is $65. Entry fees are nonrefundable or transferable.
Registered Clinic participants will receive a training schedule, a training log book, an Omaha Running Club singlet, a post marathon / half marathon party, and if they successfully complete their event, a finishers T-shirt.

ORC members may attend the Clinics at no cost, but if they want all the Clinic provides (training schedule, log book, ORC singlet, post marathon party, and finishers T-shirt); they must register and pay the series fee of $65.

Individuals can sign up and participate in the Clinic at any time throughout its duration. If you are interested in using the Clinic as a training tool to assist in achieving a goal of successfully completing a fall event; then you should begin participating in Clinic activities by June 1st with a 20-25 mile weekly base.
